The Skene House Rosemount is a mid-range property near central Aberdeen with 101 fully equipped one- to three-bedroom apartments. Priced to compete with nearby mid-range hotels, it's an ideal choice for long-term guests, large groups, families, or business travelers, and it's intended for anyone who prefers the comfort of an apartment without sacrificing hotel services such as a 24-hour reception desk, free breakfast, parking, and Wi-Fi. However, there's no bar or full restaurant and some of the units get street noise. Travelers may want to compare rates and amenities with the neighboring sister property, Skene House Whitehall.
Scene
Welcoming lobby, bright, spacious lounge area, and modern meeting rooms
Housed in two buildings across the street from one another,
the Skene House looks like a pair of apartment buildings from the outside. Inside, the lobby is bright
and welcoming, and while it's a touch dated, it's still immaculately clean. Brass light fixtures
hang from the vaulted ceiling and colorful armchairs
and couches occupy the corners. There is a separate lounge around with several
clusters of comfortable red and orange couches and chairs as well as a wall-mounted TV. A carpeted staircase and an elevator lead to the
building’s upper three floors. Other features include modern meeting rooms, one of which is fronted by an enormous windowed wall. The breakfast room,
located in the basement, feels subterranean, with small windows that look
directly onto the stone walls, but it has plenty of two- and four-top tables.
Location
In a residential area, five minutes on foot to restaurants, bars, and a landmark theater
The Skene House is situated on a
quiet street on the north side of Aberdeen. The landmark performing arts center His Majesty’s Theatre is right down the street (a
four-minute walk), and it’s less than a 10-minute walk to the Music Hall. It takes about
12 minutes to reach both Aberdeen's train station and Union Square on foot, and 15 minutes to get to the Malt Whiskey Trail. It’s less than a 20-minute drive to the Aberdeen Airport.
Rooms
Complete apartments with separate bedrooms and kitchens
The hotel offers 101 apartments with one, two, or three bedrooms. Each has a separate living area
with a couch, armchairs, a table, and a flat-screen satellite TV, and all units come with full kitchens with mini-fridges, dishwashers, microwaves, stoves, ovens, and all
the necessary utensils. There is free Wi-Fi access in every unit and some even
come with a washer/dryer. Decor is minimal, but there are a few pleasant landscape or floral prints on the walls. Bedrooms are basic but bright, with wood headboards and attached reading lights. Most also have TVs. Bathrooms are immaculate to the point of feeling sterile
and have large glass walk-in showers.
Features
Free parking, Wi-Fi, and breakfast
Amenities at the Skene House include free property-wide Wi-Fi, parking in a small lot, and a free continental breakfast. There are three
meeting rooms available, along with a computer for guests' use. Discounted passes to
a local gym can be arranged through the 24-hour reception desk.
