Best All-Inclusive Resorts in Isla Mujeres, Mexico

Isla Mujeres Palace is a quiet, intimate property for couples only, located on a white-sand beach in southern Isla Mujeres. Though this is a 62-room boutique, it features all the standards of larger resorts -- a nice pool with a swim-up bar, a spa, a quiet beach with non-motorized water sports, balconies with ocean views -- but on a smaller scale and with a calmer atmosphere. Unlike mega-resorts with multiple restaurants, however, Isla Mujeres Palace only has one restaurant, and its menu is somewhat limited. Airy rooms are luxurious and elegant with jetted tubs for two, furnished balconies, flat-screen TVs, and free Wi-Fi.

The upscale Zoetry Villa Rolandi Isla Mujeres Cancun is a tiny beach boutique with a calm atmosphere, three pools, and a celeb clientele. Its 35 oceanfront suites have king-sized beds, sunken living rooms, steam showers, and terraces -- most of which have two-person whirlpools. Guests can expect sparkling wine on arrival and three-times-daily maid service. Zoetry's Endless Privileges all-inclusive program includes a free spa treatment, premium liquor, and food and drink at both restaurants (the excellent Casa Rolandi restaurant, which has a celebrity following, and a gourmet Mexican-French fusion spot with an extensive wine menu). Guests also have free access to the gym, kayaks and paddleboards, and boat transport from Cancun. Guests can also take advantage of the Sip, Savor, and See program, allowing them to dine at any AMResorts property.

Located across the street from beautiful Playa Norte, Privilege Aluxes is an adult-oriented hotel with a quiet atmosphere. (In 2019, the hotel plans to become an adult-only property with a minimum age of 18.) Privilege offers a unique approach to their all-inclusive plan: guests can choose to have the all-inclusive package for as many days or as few days of their stay as they want. This gives an extra level of flexibility for guests who want to try the local cuisine in town. The all-inclusive packages includes meals at all four restaurants and all bars, though top-shelf booze, fine wines, and food upgrades, such as lobster, cost extra. Room service is also free. Folks not on the all-inclusive plan can still expect a free breakfast buffet and free minibars in their rooms. Guests also have access to a spa with thermal circuit and small gym with several machines.

Mia Reef isn't technically on Isla Mujeres, as it sits on its own private island just off the northern tip of the island. The hotel is connected by a footbridge and is surrounded by water on all sides. Guests love the excellent (and walkable) location, fun atmosphere, and private beach with shallow water. The hotel's all-inclusive plan is comprehensive, meaning that guests don't have to shelling out for things other than spa and salon treatments, event space rental, and speciality restaurants. The main buffet restaurant, snack bars, and two bars serving well liquor and domestic beer and wine are part of the package, as are a small sports bar and nightclub. Bike rentals, snorkeling gear, kayaks, the kids' club, and daily activities are also included. All 156 rooms, villas, and suites are fresh and modern with contemporary Mexican touches, and come with free, restocked minibars, AC, free Wi-Fi, and comfy beds. Some rooms have terrace whirlpools, kitchenettes, or personal kayak and snorkel equipment.
