Bottom Line

The Kenzi Europa is a family-friendly and predominantly all-inclusive upper-middle-range resort that’s a four-minute walk from Agadir Beach, and close to shops and nightlife. The 236 spacious rooms are surprisingly smart and well furnished, given decor elsewhere is a tad outdated. Attractive grounds include three lovely pools, and one of the kids’ pools has animal-shaped slides and waterslides. Other extensive facilities include a great spa, sauna, steam room, small gym, tennis courts, basketball court, and kids’ clubs and play areas; the live entertainment is also popular. The international breakfast, lunch, and dinner buffets get mixed reviews, as does the bar. Note there are some extra charges, as well as maintenance and housekeeping issues. Upscale Hotel Timoulay is a similarly priced alternative for those seeking peace and quiet.

Kenzi Europa

Scene

Promising exteriors and lovely grounds, but some dated and slightly gaudy interiors

The Kenzi Europa makes a good impression from the outside, where the relatively bland, purpose-built low-rise building has been spiced up with a modern, bright-orange accent design. But it’s a pity that the same can’t be said indoors, where decor in the rather gaudy lobby is on the mismatched side. The fairly dark space has gray-tiled flooring, old-fashioned downlighting, and white-upholstered bench-like seating around its edges -- though the modern, curved reception desk, sporting a white doily-like design, is better. A separate part of the lobby, with dark-wood floor paneling, orange ceilings, planted cacti, and modern armchair seating, is also more pleasant. The lovely tiered lawns around the pool are dotted with palm trees. Most guests here are families on all-inclusive package holidays.

Rooms

Smart rooms with good city and sea views

The Kenzi Europa’s fairly spacious rooms are smarter than the decor in public areas might suggest. There’s terra-cotta floor tiling, white walls with cream accents, and chic cream-and-brown fabric headboards. Built-in bedside tables with wall-mounted lamps, elegant teal and purple bed throws, and chic gray-silver ottomans are also provided. Oval rugs in complementary teal and purple accents look a tad cheap, but there are decent-sized desks, and elegant floor and table lamps. Sliding doors lead out to small balconies with basic furniture and good street and sea views. Junior Suites add connected lounge spaces, and sleep three.

Amenities include flat-screen cable TVs, phones, free Wi-Fi, safes (extra charges apply), and mini-fridges, but no coffee- or tea-making facilities.

Slightly dated bathrooms feature brown marble-effect vanities with submerged sinks. There’s cream and orange-brown floor and wall tiling, and shower/tub combos with power showerheads, plus bidets, and miniature toiletries. Bathrobes and hairdryers are included.

Note that guests report some maintenance and housekeeping issues.

Features

Extensive sports and kids’ facilities, but restaurant and bar get mixed reviews

Kenzi Europa's features focus on families and the highlight are the three attractive pools. Among them are two kids’ pools, one with a flume and slides and another with animal-shaped slides in the water. There are plentiful sunbeds and umbrellas on the deck and lawns around the pool. Family-oriented daytime pool activities can be noisy, so this isn’t the spot for peace and quiet.

All-inclusive rates are available. Valentino restaurant offers international breakfast, lunch, and dinner buffets, but food get mixed reviews and the restaurant closes between mealtimes. The English Bar is advertised as being open 24 hours, but guests report it actually closes mid- to late-evening.

There's an excellent spa with a sauna and hammam steam room. The small pink gym offers a limited range of cardio and weightlifting machines and free weights. There are two tennis courts, a basketball court, and indoor and outdoor kids’ clubs and play areas. Other features include an on-site pharmacy, mini-mart, hair salon, and business center. Wi-Fi is free throughout. Regular shows and live entertainment are popular.
